The chair is an invite. I like it there to remind me of the Russell Edson poem "A Chair," the first poem I read by him and one of my favorites.
It starts...
"A chair has waited such a long time to be with its person. Through shadow and fly buzz and the floating dust it has waited such a long time ..."
