landscape of cake
I’ve always disliked cake. It’s the sameness – every bite just like the last. Icing never alleviated this. Icing seemed only to be added for its moist otherness; it never actually tasted good. Sweet, yes, but not good. And when you start varying cake's textures by adding things (think fruitcake), the situation further deteriorates. Even the word “cake” is kind of gross – like “ache” with choking attached. Not to mention that a piece of cake is as filling as a meal, and twice as caloric. I guess I’m lucky I never liked cake. I feel that way now, especially after finding this blog.

I've been in and out of stages in my life where I didn't like cake. I've been in the "really like cake" stage for a few years now. Especially expensive white wedding cake. It makes quite a difference.
eek. i just dislike the texture, i think. so loaf of bread.
I've never liked cake. (I do like the brown "skin" that forms on the bottom of cakes though. White and yellow cakes only.)
I've always been all about the icing.
But it's got to be butter cream icing. And the ratio of powdered sugar to butter has got to be correct (it has to taste sweet AND buttery) or I won't eat it.
So, you don't like cake. But do like banana bread? Which to me, isn't really bread at all. And not cake either. It's something in between.
aside from real bread, i dislike pretty much everything that comes as a "loaf," including banana bread. & pound cake. & mostly meat loaf, which would be better called "meat load."
oh my gosh, I've never really liked cake, either! I do, however, LOVE pies.
yes, pie! pie is another creature.
Thanks for posting this. It is soo funny.
I'm glad to know about your cake aversion, as I might have baked you one if you ever made it to Basel!
You would be totally, totally safe from meatloaf here, however.
what i would really not like is meatloaf cake.
