ye rosebuds

My poem In Frankfurt Cemetery is up at Opium. I love cemeteries, and Frankfurt's is a beauty. Best park in town, really, and no annoying frisbee chuckers. The bad thing about this cemetery, however, is you basically "rent" your plot. That means that 10 years or so after you've been buried, you need to renew your lease. But of course you are dead! They smack these awful "expiry" stickers on the gravestone saying you should visit the admistration. But of course you have already expired! I do suppose there is an eternal deal available, but probably only for the very rich.

Although I didn't submit it that way, somehow my middle name slipped in whole alongside the poem. I kind of like it like that.

I love cemeteries, too, and your poem. I have seen the rain like that on the leaves...

I just wrote my annual "cemetery walk" script. In October, I will bring to life Helen Davis Stevenson, the mother of Adlai Stevenson II, in the cemetery in which they are both buried.

That sounds so interesting, Kathleen. My mother was a huge Stevenson fan. I hope you'll share the script in the fall...

My name is Martin Willitts Jr and I want to thank you for your kind comment about my "sad" Onion poem in quarrtsiluni. After all, onions are naturally sad, but in spite of singing the blues they have raw courage of any woman who fights back at any and all injustice. Have a nice and peaceful life.
I am on Facebook; come visit some time.

Are the stickers like that which the parking authority stick to a side window for cars parked illegally? I love it. If I were to be buried I'd write a bad check so the sticker would go on immediately.

Martin -
I liked the onion a lot. congrats on the publication.

the stickers are indeed like that. I think you can't be buried until your check clears, though. laugh

You write images. With imagination. A perfect combination with morning coffee.

Middle names are precious these days...

It's amazing how you have me really concerned how the oceans feel about ever talking. I hardly have room to think about the symbolism. Great poem.
