sync in progress
So weird I've been having John Martyn songs pop into my head the past couple days and I just checked and he died a year ago yesterday. Such a talent. Adding a couple of his songs to the iPotty today. This video is nothing special, but "Fine Lines" is a great song.
I think I said this a year ago, but when I was in China in the late 80's, someone left behind a cassette tape of John Martyn, but without any song list or identification. I had no idea who the artist was. But since "May You Never" was on it, I was able years later -through the miracle of google- to find out. Of course, I thought John Martyn was covering Eric Clapton, not the other way around.
(Thanks for reminding me, Bob.)

May you never.
Pretty mellow.
That one is pretty mellow. It comes up right after Neil Young's 'Mellow my Mind' in my iPod. Martyn did some not mellow stuff, too, but yeah, mostly slowish melodious.
Ah, John Martyn. That indescribable voice. He is at the top of my list, truly. Solid Air. He wrote the song Solid Air for his friend Nick Drake when he died so young. Another amazing voice. He could rock out a bit as you said Sarah. Glistening Glyndebourne is a good rainy day driving song.
Ron - so glad to hear you like John Martyn, too. "Solid Air" is one of my favorites.
Likewise Sarah. Bless the Weather.
Wow. Never heard of John Martyn. Never heard this song, either. Maybe I was kidnapped at a crucial juncture in the 70s. Anyway, my advice to John would be, "Enunciate, man!" Or maybe he was doing that on purpose....
Heh heh. I think that was part of his "charm."
