We do that with chestnuts but after a day they lose their luster.SarahJanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02497062670296130228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19630688.post-85110944963004822932007-09-10T17:38:00.000+00:002007-09-10T17:38:00.000+00:00I was in the habit of picking up and pocketing aco...I was in the habit of picking up and pocketing acorns too. I had a huge bowl of them on my desk until I discovered they had perfect little holes in them. Insects had crawled out and gone who knows where. Now I admire them, but let them stay put. Occasionally I kick the best ones into a spot that seems more likely to let them germinate. We have a lot of oaks in our neighborhood, but never enough.

Your silver acorn is beautiful.Rachel Dacushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15754712503067644226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19630688.post-77788298291198920002007-09-10T15:39:00.000+00:002007-09-10T15:39:00.000+00:00valerie - hard to imagine them as exotic!dick, tha...valerie -
hard to imagine them as exotic!

dick, that's a great story.

acorns are apparently very evocative. When my daughter was small, she used the caps as teacups. It was under a huge old oak & the acorns in season would fall onto the tin roof like very slow rain≥ I used to pick out the best & arrange them in squads (families would have been too girlie) on my bookshelf.

Sorry - more post than comment!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19630688.post-42772081826468734892007-09-09T21:25:00.000+00:002007-09-09T21:25:00.000+00:00Cute necklace! There weren't any oak trees on my st...Cute necklace!

There weren't any oak trees on my street growing up so I always thought of them as exotic.Valerie Lovelandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11309299429765944601noreply@blogger.com
